Animal Care/Management

Capel Manor College’s animal care and management courses will offer you the opportunity to gain nationally and internationally recognised qualifications whilst learning in a unique and supportive environment.

Our courses open up numerous career opportunities in handling, supervising and caring for animals: from small domestic and exotic pets to large animals, livestock, wildlife and zoo animals.

Many of our students progress into higher education to study a wide variety of courses, including: zoology, animal science or animal management, veterinary sciences or nursing and animal behaviour.

Capel is home to a wide-range of animals across our London centres. We manage more than 1,000 animals in our collections and farms at Brooks Farm, Crystal Palace, Enfield and Gunnersbury Park.

You will study animal science and business as well as gaining important hands-on practical experience looking after our animals: feeding, handling, health checking and maintaining their accommodation.

Each of our centres has dedicated teaching facilities and resources appropriate to the courses we offer, with exceptional tutors who are all industry-experienced.

A career in animal management is for you if you are animal-mad, have good people and communication skills, enjoy science and don’t mind getting your hands dirty.

FIRST CLASS FACILITIES
Students at our Enfield Centre moved into a £3.6 million purpose-built facility in November 2015, providing over 1,000m2 of modern, flexible learning space over three floors.

The ground floor houses a collection of reptiles, amphibians and small animals. There are laboratories, classrooms, a veterinary surgery learning environment and dog grooming parlour. It incorporates a state of-the-art learning zone where students can meet and learn independently.
