Take your next step towards a career in horticulture, grounds maintenance and green spaces with London Talent Pathways.

Delivered by Capel Manor College in partnership with Groundwork London’s Green Space Skills Hub and funded by the Greater London Authority, the programme gives eligible adult Londoners access to funded, industry-focused training designed to help you get into work, develop new skills or progress in your career.

Start with practical Level 1 training delivered by Groundwork London’s Green Space Skills Hub, or progress your skills with Level 2 and Level 3 courses delivered by Capel Manor College.

What is London Talent Pathways?

London Talent Pathways is a Greater London Authority-funded programme connecting Londoners with the skills and qualifications needed by employers in key sectors.

Our programme focuses on horticulture, grounds maintenance and green spaces, creating clear routes into employment and opportunities to progress within the sector.

Through the programme, you can:

  • Develop practical, industry-ready skills
  • Gain recognised qualifications and valuable experience
  • Build the specialist skills employers are looking for
  • Progress into employment, career advancement or higher-level study

Who is London Talent Pathways for

London Talent Pathways supports eligible London residents aged 19 and over who want to develop their skills, improve their employment prospects or progress in their careers.

The programme particularly aims to create opportunities for:

  • Young Londoners aged 19 to 23
  • People who are out of work
  • People earning less than the London Living Wage
  • People without a Level 2 qualification
  • Disabled Londoners
  • People aged 50 and over

Start your career – Level 1

Delivered by Groundwork London’s Green Space Skills Hub

The Level 1 pathway includes:

Certificate in Practical Horticulture Skills
Develop the practical skills needed to start building a career in horticulture and green spaces.

Your programme will also include employability skills development and a 70 to 80-hour work placement, helping you gain experience and prepare for employment or progression to Level 2.

Build your career – Level 2

Delivered by Capel Manor College

Develop your practical and professional skills with recognised qualifications designed to support employment and career progression.

Level 2 opportunities will include:

  • Diploma in Work-based Horticulture – Parks, Gardens and Green Space
  • Diploma in Work-based Horticulture – Production and Commercial Horticulture
  • Diploma in Work-based Horticulture – Landscaping
  • Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides – PA1
  • Safe Application of Pesticides Using Pedestrian Hand-held Equipment – PA6
  • Safe Use of Brush-cutters and Trimmers

Develop your leadership, management and business skills and prepare to take on greater responsibility within the environmental and land-based sector.
