What is viticulture?
Viticulture focuses on the cultivation and harvesting of grapes. Our courses are perfect for those who wish to establish a vineyard, have an interest in the industry or for those who work in retail or wholesale with wine products.
The aim of the vineyard is to bring wine production to the heart of the local community and to champion quality, sustainability, health, wellbeing and community involvement.

Introduction to Vineyard Pests and Diseases
You will learn about the most common vineyard pests and diseases in England, how to identify them and what preventative measures can be taken. Discount available for volunteers.

Introduction to Grape Varieties
This one-day course will give you the knowledge to make informed decisions about which grape varieties to choose for your vineyard.

Principles of Organic and Biodynamic Viticulture
In this one-day workshop you will learn the key teachings of organic and biodynamic viticulture and how you can implement more sustainable practices in your vineyard.

Vineyard Harvest Workshop
We will help you to be optimally equipped for that crucial harvest date. Another vital course for every potential vineyard owner, manager or worker.
Studying at Forty Hall Farm
By choosing to study with us, you will be studying at Forty Hall Farm, run and managed by Capel Manor College. The Farm is a certified organic farm in Enfield, on the outskirts of London.
Forty Hall Farm is home to Forty Hall Vineyard, an award-winning social enterprise that is led and managed by volunteers. There are ten acres of vines planted on the Farm and the vineyard celebrated its first harvest in the autumn of 2013.


Viticulture Industry Experience
Volunteers are essential to the success of the vineyard in all facets of operation, administration and growth.
As a volunteer, you will gain valuable experience by helping to sow seeds, gather fruit, and contribute to the upkeep of the picturesque vineyard. You will also help to maintain the vineyard’s stall at the Forty Hall Farm Farmers’ Market, as well as participate in the increasingly popular corporate team challenge days.
