Vineyard Harvest Workshop

Vineyard grapes collected together after a harvest.

Course overview

Our Vineyard Harvest Workshop will show you the tasks carried out in the vineyard and winery in preparation of harvest.

When is it the right moment to harvest? What does tartaric acidity mean? Is rain before harvest a problem? In this very hands-on one-day workshop, you will learn about how to plan your grape harvest, the different tests you should apply and what equipment you will need.
We will harvest grapes together in our organic Forty Hall Vineyard, press the grapes and start the wine making process. This workshop is suitable for the hobby gardener with a few wines in their backyard and for (aspiring) vineyard owners and workers.

You will learn

  • How to plan for your grape harvest
  • Measuring sugar and acidity
  • Hands-on practice in the vineyard
  • Tasks in the winery

Although there is no formal qualification associated with this course, all participants will receive a Capel Manor College Certificate of Attendance upon completion of the course.

No entry requirements but an interest in the subject area is key.

Upon completion of this course, you can progress to one of our other courses in viticulture and oenology.
