Jessica's story

The course has helped me in my current role through confidence and it has enabled me to pass on knowledge to others about the specifics of cultivation. Jessica studied the RHS Level 2 and 3 courses at Capel Manor College
Royal Horticultural Society courses at Capel Manor College

The RHS Certificate in the Principles and Practices of Horticulture (Level 2) consists of two courses:

  • RHS Certificate in the Principles of Plant Growth and Development (Level 2) (theory course)
  • RHS Certificate in Practical Horticulture (Level 2) (practical course)

Please select your preferred course and campus when applying. Students who wish to undertake both courses simultaneously within one academic year will be required to attend an interview. We strongly recommend completing the theory course before progressing on to the practical course.

City & Guilds horticulture courses at Capel Manor College

Our City & Guilds courses focus on developing practical, job-ready skills through hands-on learning. Students spend time working directly in outdoor environments, building real experience in areas such as plant care, landscaping and garden maintenance.

While key theory is covered, the emphasis is on hands-on learning to help you gain the confidence and competence needed to succeed in the horticulture industry.
