Certificate of Competence in the Safe Use of Hand-Held Hedge Cutters (Level 2)

Course overview

This one-day course is aimed at those who use hand-held hedge cutters as part of their work, either in horticulture, arboriculture, or forestry. It will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to prepare and operate a hand-held hedge cutter safely, and to industry standards in line with current legislation.

You will learn about the use of hand-held hedge cutters, covering: pre-use checks and maintenance, identification of controls and instruments, and operating the machine to cut hedges within the capacity of the machine.

To achieve this qualification, you must successfully complete a practical assessment with oral questioning by a City & Guilds (formerly NPTC) approved assessor.

You will learn

  • How to prepare a hand-held hedge cutter for operation
  • How to operate a hand-held hedge cutter

You must bring your own personal protective equipment (PPE).
