Jessica’s story
Jessica studied the RHS Level 2 and 3 courses at Capel Manor College.
“Before I came to the College, I was studying geography at University whilst completing an internship in horticulture at Chester Zoo. I then completed an apprenticeship at Kew Gardens, and it was there that I heard about Capel Manor College and realised I wanted to work with tropical and temperate flora.
I thought the course was brilliant and the more that I studied, the more it all made sense. Studying at the Regent’s Park Campus every week was lovely and all my course mates were brilliant – some I still see regularly.
I am currently managing the glasshouses at Chelsea Physic Garden. The course has helped me in my current role through confidence and it has enabled me to pass on knowledge to others about the specifics of cultivation, and why.
In the future I would love to manage tropical and temperate collections under glass. I have been very fortunate and lucky with the opportunities at Capel Manor College so I am very grateful.”
