With over 40 years’ experience in horticulture, David Domoney has taken his passion for plants and turned it into a flourishing career in television. On Tuesday 13 October, he took over our Facebook Live to tell us more about his story and explained how people can pursue their dream career in horticulture and garden design.
About David Domoney
David started his horticulture journey at Warwickshire College of Agriculture, where he gained a Pre Cert. Horticulture qualification. Upon completion, he then completed one of the last of the industry’s comprehensive three-year apprenticeships with Notcutts Nursery & Garden Centre Group, previously known as the “Harrods of horticulture”.
After gaining his qualification and completing his apprenticeship, David formed his garden design and gardening and lifestyle PR company, Domoney Ltd, where he gained clients such as Everest, John Lewis, Harley Davidson, The Ritz, and many more. But his career success does not stop there, David is also the mastermind behind UK-wide gardening competitions, such as Cultivation Street and Young Gardeners of the Year.
Not only has David become a household name, but he has also won 30 Royal Horticultural Society Medals for his show gardens to date, including gold at Chelsea Flower Show. He also has an award from Prince Edward for Excellence in Horticulture in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments.
David has used his experience and knowledge to help shape the strategy and ethos of Capel Manor College as one of our Governors, ensuring the College plays a vital role in the green agenda for the capital.
