This Dog Walking and Pet Sitting for Professionals (Level 3) course is available at our Enfield Campus in London. As an iPET accredited course you will learn how to work safely and professionally in pet-care roles.
During this dog walking and pet sitting course, content will cover the responsibilities of dog walkers and pet sitters, legislation, risk assessment, lone-working safety, canine behaviour, breed traits and caring for small animals.
You will also gain essential business skills including policies, procedures, marketing and financial planning, ideal for those starting or developing a pet-care business or seeking formal recognition in the sector.
You will learn
- Roles and responsibilities of dog walkers and pet sitters including professional conduct, client interaction, animal record keeping and service expectations.
- Legislation, codes of practice and safety including animal welfare legislation, insurance requirements, risk management, lone-working safety and transport regulations.
- Canine behaviour and breed characteristics including recognising typical breed behaviours, observing behaviour and safe control while walking.
- Care of small animals (beyond dogs) including knowledge of small pets commonly seen in pet-sitting services.
- Professional dog walking skills including safe equipment use, group management, control techniques, hazard awareness and effective route planning.
- Business management for pet-care services including setting up and operating a compliant pet-care business including policies, procedures, marketing, financial requirements and record keeping.

You must have the general ability to study and understand content at Level 3, but no formal prior qualifications are required. No experience is required and no membership or professional status is needed.
You should demonstrate a genuine passion for working with animals and show enthusiasm and commitment toward developing the professional skills required for a career in the pet-care sector.
Completion of this Dog Walking and Pet Sitting for Professionals (Level 3) qualification will equip you with the knowledge and skills to operate as a competent, professional dog walker and pet sitter, supporting progression into self-employment or roles within dog walking companies, boarding kennels, daycares and pet care businesses.
