Visit Capel Manor Gardens in Enfield this Weekend for the Historic Herts Heavy Horse and Country Show

The Herts Heavy Horse and Country Show is an exciting, annual event steeped in history and a wonderful opportunity to see the gentle giants of the horse world in action.

In collaboration with the Hertfordshire Heavy Horse Association, Capel Manor Gardens will host this exciting event on Sunday 2 June. This event provides horse lovers and families with the unique chance to view impressive heavy horse breeds up close, and see their presentation, handling and working.

The event will take place within the 30-acre estate of Capel Manor Gardens, and boasts a full day’s programme of shows and activities including: heavy horse shows, competitions and awards, a dog show, farrier demonstrations, trade stalls, and hot food, drinks and ice cream stalls.

Visitors to the event will also be able to explore the many wonderful attractions of Capel Manor Gardens as part of their admissions ticket. The estate features a mini zoo with animal talks, 40 themed gardens to explore, a Café and gift shop.

Capel Manor Gardens is part of Capel Manor College’s Enfield Campus; the College offers a variety of hands-on courses for school leavers and adults interested in animals, nature and the environment. On the day of the Herts Heavy Horse and Country Show, visitors will also get the unique opportunity to explore the College’s impressive saddlery and leather workshops.

Capel Manor College is the only college in Europe to offer a full-time saddlery course. Students can gain historic and prestigious qualifications in saddlery and shoemaking with The Worshipful Company of Cordwainers’ Diploma in Saddle, Harness and Bridle Making, The Worshipful Company of Saddlers Certificates and the Access to HE Diploma in Shoemaking. Doors will open at 10am on Sunday 2 June for the Herts Heavy Horse and Country Show, last admission is at 3pm and Capel Manor Gardens closes at 5pm.
