Course overview
This short course is available to those aged 19 or over.
If your job involves applying pesticides in a commercial role then you are legally required by the Plant Protection Products (Sustainable Use) Regulations (2012) to take this qualification.
You will learn
- Know the legislative requirements and codes of practice relating to the use of pesticides
- Understand the relevance of product information
- Know how to minimise the risk of human contamination and implement emergency procedures
- Know how to store and transport pesticides safely
- Know how to manage and dispose of surplus pesticide and waste materials
- Know the record keeping requirements
- Know how to minimise the risk of environmental contamination and implement emergency procedures
Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides – City and Guilds
By law everyone who uses pesticides professionally must have received adequate training in using pesticides safely. Candidates are strongly advised to ensure that they will be able to meet the standards required in the assessment.

Government funding is not available for this course; you will need to pay for your tuition, exams and materials. The fee shown for each campus and course start date is the total fee that you will need to pay.
For some of our courses, we offer a discount for current students. If this is the case, you will see the reduced fee when you select your chosen course campus and start date. To qualify for this discount, you must already be studying another course at Capel Manor College, and be adding this course to your existing programme.
