Award in Green Roofs (Level 2)

Course overview

This course will allow you to explore the use of green roofs, also known as living roofs or eco-roofs, which are sustainable roofing systems that incorporate vegetation, soil, and drainage layers atop a conventional roof structure. These innovative installations provide a range of environmental benefits, including improved air quality, enhanced insulation, and reduced urban heat island effect.

Additionally, they contribute to biodiversity conservation by providing habitats for birds, insects, and plants in urban areas. Moreover, green roofs offer aesthetic appeal, recreational spaces, and potential energy savings by reducing heating and cooling demands within buildings. Embracing green roof technology represents a proactive approach to urban sustainability, fostering greener, healthier, and more resilient cities.
