Course overview
You will explore the use of green roofs (also known as living roofs or eco-roofs) while studying this short course.
Green roofs are sustainable roofing systems that incorporate vegetation, soil, and drainage layers atop a conventional roof structure. These innovative installations provide a range of environmental benefits including: improved air quality, enhanced insulation, increased biodiverse conservation, and they reduce the effects of urban heat islands.
You will learn how to create aesthetically pleasing green roofs while incorporating sustainable methods. You will also learn how to maintain a living roof and the best plants to select for urban environments.

- How to select and prepare interior plant displays
- How to establish plant displays
- How to maintain the health and appearance of interior plant displays
Although there is no formal qualification associated with this course, all participants will receive a Capel Manor College Certificate of Attendance upon completion.
