Capel Manor College Students Honoured with Jack Petchey Achievement Awards

We are proud to announce that three exceptional students from Capel Manor College have been recognised with the prestigious Jack Petchey Achievement Award.

These awards celebrate young people across London and Essex who go above and beyond, showcasing dedication, hard work and a positive impact on their communities.

The recipients of this year’s awards have demonstrated outstanding commitment to their studies, their peers and their fields of interest. Here are their inspiring stories:

Mary Burke

Mary has been recognised for her exceptional dedication and passion for animal welfare. During a recent college open day, she impressed visitors by confidently sharing Capel Manor College’s mission and values, embodying the spirit of the college with her knowledge and enthusiasm. Mary is also highly committed in practical sessions, always prioritising animal welfare and demonstrating a keen eye for detail. Her leadership qualities and ability to inspire those around her make her a truly deserving recipient of the Jack Petchey Achievement Award.

“Her dedication, leadership, and passion for the field make her a role model to her peers and a valuable asset to our community.” – Laura Smith, Animal Keeper

Jensen Routledge

She goes out of her way to ensure everyone feels included in college activities, embodying kindness and teamwork. Beyond the classroom, Jensen volunteers at a grooming salon to expand her skills and has successfully established her own grooming business – an incredible accomplishment at such a young age. Her initiative, drive and professional attitude set a shining example for others.

Ellie’s hard work and enthusiasm for agriculture are second to none. In addition to excelling academically, she dedicates her spare time to working on a dairy farm, gaining valuable hands-on experience. Ellie has shown initiative by advocating for her peers, even attempting to organise a college trip to her workplace to share her knowledge with fellow students. Over her two years at Capel Manor College, Ellie has consistently achieved high grades and proven to be a model student, embodying commitment, curiosity and a passion for her field.

“Ellie’s drive to gain practical experience and help her peers is a testament to her dedication and leadership in agriculture.” – Mark Ballard, Agriculture Lecturer
