Capel Manor College joins with Capel Manor Primary School to Bring Magic to the Fairy Forest
A collaboration with Capel Manor Primary School has brought an extra sprinkle of magic to the College’s Fairy Forest in Enfield this spring.
Pupils from Reception and year 4 have been hard at work designing, painting fairy doors and building fairy houses using natural materials such as willow, tree bark and wooden structures provided by the College. In addition, a range of children, from across the school, entered a competition to construct their own colourful projects for the Fairy Forest.
Their creations have been placed throughout the Fairy Forest, a woodland trail at Capel Manor College filled with carpets of seasonal bulbs, including daffodils, camellias, and bluebells getting ready to bloom.
On Monday 24 March, after judging held by representatives from Capel Manor College who picked out a number of fantastic pieces, the school held a special prize giving assembly to celebrate the children’s work. On Thursday 3 April, the pupils visited the College to explore the forest, searched for their hidden creations, and took part in a fun fairy house hunt. They also enjoyed a family picnic, making it a truly magical day out.
“We were thrilled to be part of this initiative with Capel Manor College as we’re always keen to work on our community links as well as the children having a wonderful time,” commented Alice Monford and Roxana Ajayi, teachers at Capel Manor Primary School.
“We’ve created a magical space for children of all ages,” added Julia Brown, gardener at Capel Manor College and champion of the project. “I hope they have enjoyed exploring the forest and discovering the tiny doors.”
This initiative is part of Capel Manor College’s ongoing mission to connect the local community with nature, learning, and creativity. The Fairy Forest is open to visitors all year long and offers a unique, seasonal escape into the natural world, perfect for children and adults alike.
This Easter, visitors have an extra special opportunity to explore the Fairy Forest with an Easter Holiday Trail open until Thursday 17 April and an exciting Easter Eggs-travaganza taking place over the Bank Holiday weekend. More information can be found at capelmanorgardens.co.uk.
Capel Manor College would like to thank the staff and children of Capel Manor Primary School for their fantastic ideas and creations which will be enjoyed by everyone.
