Aim Higher by Design with new Garden Design Foundation Degree at Capel Manor College

IMG_7239We are launching our first foundation degree in Garden Design and Plantsmanship this autumn in partnership with the Royal Agricultural University (RAU), Cirencester.

Our new foundation degree builds on Capel’s reputation for excellence and delivering the very best garden design qualifications for working professionals and those wishing to start a career as a garden designer.

Malcolm Goodwin, Vice Principal of Capel, believes there has never been a better time to start a career in garden design and to study in higher education. “We are immensely excited to be launching our foundation degree and proud to be working with the RAU whose national and international reputation for higher education is second to none. This course includes many innovative features not seen in other courses such as high-end software and enterprise skills.

Capel has a long standing record of achievement in garden design and our Alumni include many of the country’s best designers. Our students design and build show gardens at the Chelsea Flower Show, Hampton Court Flower Show and the Ideal Homes Show as well as building gardens at Capel and for other clients. The difference at Capel is that our students drive these projects with tutors offering support and guidance.”

We have the very best resources on offer, outstanding teaching staff, many of whom are highly successful garden designers in their own right, purpose built design studios including the latest Computer-Aided Design software set in stunning and award-winning gardens.

The foundation degree is offered over two years full-time or four years part-time and has been created in association with the RAU. Students will study at Capel’s Enfield centre, home to the National Gardening Centre and the Chartered Institute of Horticulture, set in 34 acres of mature, designed gardens which are open to the public and which provide inspiration throughout the course.

There are also optional study tours including additional lectures at the RAU and visits to some of the best national gardens.

Our foundation degree in Garden Design and Plantsmanship will give you the skills and expertise you need for a professional career in the garden design and horticulture industries, from a garden designer to a greenspace planner, horticulturalist to a business owner. Alternatively, the course can lead to a full BSc if you choose to continue your studies.
