Introduction to Floriculture

Course overview

Capel Manor College is one of the first training providers to offer a course in floriculture.

This new, part-time course is ideal for beginners aged 19 and over. You will learn how to select, grow and care for a range of suitable plants that can be used within a floral display, as well as develop your basic, practical skills in floristry.

If you have ever thought about starting a flower farm and/or floristry business, then this course will outline how you can get started. Designed with the help of cut flower farmers, the course content reflects the latest industry insights from what is a rapidly developing area within the green skills sector.

Upon completion, you will gain an accredited certificate.

  • How to minimise the environmental impact of growing and using British flowers.
  • Plant and plot maintenance
  • Flower conditioning
  • How to create designs using home-grown flowers and foliage

This is a beginner’s course, no entry requirements or previous experience required.

Upon successful completion of this course you can move into horticulture and study one of our Level 1 courses, or explore floristry further with one of our floral design courses.
