Introduction to Craft Skills – Floristry

Course overview

Ideal for complete beginners, this free, part-time course will provide you with a great introduction into the floristry industry, as well as helping you to acquire some basic skills to get started.

Delivered one day per week for a duration of five weeks, this course is a great opportunity to try something new before committing to further studies.

This course offers free tuition and registration to gain an accredited certificate upon successful completion of the course, however please note that there will be a small fee of £25 (or £30 for the evening class) to cover the costs of your weekly class resources.

Please note that you are unable to study more than one introductory course. Should you wish to continue to study with us after completing one of our introduction courses, we recommend discussing your progression options with your course tutor.

You will learn

  • How to create floral arrangements
  • How to create wired and planted designs with theory
  • Seasonal availability
  • How to preserve flowers and select the correct flowers for various occasions

As this is a beginner’s course, no previous experience is required.

Successful completion of this course will lead to progression onto further study within our range of floristry or creative craft pathways.

This course is part-funded by the ESFA (Education and Skills Funding Agency) or Greater London Authority (GLA) for those that are eligible.

If you are aged 16, 17 or 18 at the start of the course, your tuition, exams and materials fees will be paid for you in full as long as you meet some basic criteria for UK residence (more information can be found on our Fees and Funding page).

If you are aged 19 or over on the day your course starts, you may be entitled to help with tuition fees subject to criteria. If you receive employment benefits, have a low income, or are studying towards your first substantial qualification, you may be entitled to free tuition. For some of our courses, we offer a discount for current students. If this is the case, you will see the reduced fee when you select your chosen course campus and start date. To qualify for this discount, you must already be studying another course at Capel Manor College, and be adding this course to your existing programme.
