Introduction to Woodlands

Course overview

This one-day workshop is for beginners with an interest in the background of UK woodlands, ecology and biodiversity.

This workshop is a great way to either explore a personal interest in wildlife and environmental conservation, or to decide if studying a full or part-time course in this subject area is for you.

Please note, this workshop is field-based, running from 9am to 4pm. Students will meet in the reception area and will need to bring lunch, suitable walking footwear, and weather-appropriate clothing. Additionally, those aged 16 to 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

You will learn

  • The history of woodlands
  • Woodlands management types
  • Species and survey options

Although there is no formal qualification associated with this course, all participants will receive a Capel Manor College Certificate of Attendance upon completion of the course.

No prior experience or qualifications needed, but an interest in trees, wildlife and ecology is essential.

You can further your learning and understanding with one of our Level 2 or 3 courses in wildlife and environmental conservation.
