Capel Manor College’s Beloved Barn Owl Found Safe and Sound
Capel Manor College is thrilled to announce that Shiraz, the much-loved barn owl who went missing following a break-in at the Gunnersbury Park Campus on Sunday 25 February 2024, has been found safe and well.
Shiraz was found in a warehouse near Heathrow Airport in Hounslow, and staff promptly contacted the Capel Manor College emergency number. Upon examination, it was confirmed that it was Shiraz who was identified by a blue ring on her left ankle with her ID number. After a brief stay in their care, a grateful member of the animal management team retrieved Shiraz at 11pm on Thursday 7 March 2024. While she has lost a little bit of weight, she has not sustained any injury, and the team are working closely with the Zoo Vet to ensure a speedy return to full health.
Meg Wilson, Animal Collections Manager at Capel Manor College expressed her gratitude, stating, “It was such a relief to find Shiraz safe and well. She is currently being cared for at our Enfield Campus, before returning back to her home at Gunnersbury Park.”
Capel Manor College extends its heartfelt thanks to all involved in the search and rescue efforts that helped us bring Shiraz home. Students and staff are all very excited she is back.
