Course overview
Designed for complete beginners, this enjoyable and practical one-day workshop will introduce you to the rewarding world of growing herbs at home. Whether you have a garden, patio, balcony or simply a sunny windowsill, you will discover how easy it can be to grow fresh, flavourful herbs for cooking and everyday enjoyment.
Through hands-on activities, demonstrations and take-home projects, you will learn how to sow seeds, care for young plants, harvest herbs correctly and propagate new plants from cuttings. The workshop combines practical horticultural skills with creative ideas for using herbs in the kitchen and around the home, helping you gain the confidence to continue growing long after the workshop has finished.
You will learn
- How to identify and grow a range of popular culinary and ornamental herbs
- Practical techniques for sowing herb seeds, potting plants and caring for them successfully
- How to harvest herbs correctly and propagate new plants from cuttings
- Simple ways to use home-grown herbs in cooking, herbal teas and household projects
Although there is no formal qualification associated with this course, all participants will receive a Capel Manor College Certificate of Attendance upon completion of the course.
No formal entry requirements are required, however a keen interest in gardening is vital.
Successful completion of this course will allow you to progress on to The Seasonal Gardener, The Maintenance Gardener or The Professional Gardener.
