Course overview
This short beginner’s introductory floriculture course is perfect for anyone interested in growing their own cut flowers for floral displays using sustainable techniques.
This course will provide you with the foundational knowledge to get started at a basic level.
Throughout the course you will learn how to select, grow and care for a variety of plants suitable for floral displays. Additionally, you will develop basic practical floristry skills, using British grown flowers to create imaginative and beautiful floral designs.
Upon completion you will receive a Capel certificate, recognising your new skills and knowledge.
All materials will be provided for use.
You will learn
- How to propagate plants from seeds
- Understand and explore the importance of sustainability and minimising environmental impact in growing and designing
- Plant and plot maintenance
- Flower conditioning
- How to create floral designs using a variety of fresh British grown flowers and foliage
Although there is no formal qualification associated with this course, all participants will receive a Capel Manor College Certificate of Attendance upon completion.
This is a beginner’s course, no entry requirements or previous experience required.
Upon successful completion of this course you can move into horticulture or floristry and study one of our Level 1 courses. These courses are designed to further develop and expand the skills and knowledge necessary for success in the floriculture industry.
