Diploma in Art and Design (Level 2)

Course overview

Are you intrigued and motivated by art and design? The Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design suits students with an interest in art and design, the course will give you an opportunity to explore the materials, methods and processes that support art and design activities, and to begin to develop some related technical skills.

This course typically provides a platform to demonstrate your creative and artistic understanding of the principles and techniques giving you opportunities to explore, develop and test your creativity using a range of mediums to develop your creative skills through practical projects. It has been designed to encourage exploration, experimentation and risk taking, which will extend your critical independence and enable you to demonstrate a full understanding of the relevant standards required to achieve progression to higher education. Projects will vary in focus but will include practical themes.

At the end of the course you will plan and develop your ‘Final Major Project’ This will allow you to demonstrate all the learning that has taken place through completion of the other units.

Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English, maths or science. We will also consider your prior learning and any experience gained in an appropriate professional environment.

Successful completion of this course will enable you to progress onto a Level 3 Diploma or extended diploma in Art and Design, employment; including entry-level roles in the creative industries, apprenticeships.

This is a full-time course. If you are aged 16, 17 or 18 at the start of this course, your tuition, exams and materials fees will be paid for you in full as long as you meet some basic criteria for UK residence. Further information will be provided when you enrol.

If you are aged 19 or over on the day your course starts, you may be entitled to help with tuition fees for some courses. If you are in receipt of employment benefits, have a low income, or are studying towards your first substantial qualification, you may be entitled to free tuition.
