Our courses
You’ll take part in practical, hands-on sessions led by our tutors, meet current students, and see the learning environments for yourself, from gardens and glasshouses to specialist workshops and animal collections.
Taster Days, running from 9.45am to 1pm, are available across a range of subjects, with certain activities offered at specific times of the year. Dates and subject options are listed below.
Whether you are visiting as part of a school group or booking individually, a Taster Day is a great way to explore your options and find out if Capel Manor College is right for you.

Important note: If you are booking as an individual, you will need to have obtained permission from the student's school.
If you are booking as a school, you can book a maximum of 5 students onto a Taster Day. If you want to bring more students along, please email outreach@capel.ac.uk.
Viticulture Industry Experience
Volunteers are essential to the success of the vineyard in all facets of operation, administration and growth.
As a volunteer, you will gain valuable experience by helping to sow seeds, gather fruit, and contribute to the upkeep of the picturesque vineyard. You will also help to maintain the vineyard’s stall at the Forty Hall Farm Farmers’ Market, as well as participate in the increasingly popular corporate team challenge days.
You can benefit from:
- Free entry for you and one guest to Capel Manor Gardens as many times throughout the year
- Free entry for you and one guest to Capel Manor Gardens events such as the Herts Heavy Horse Show
- Our Learning Resource Centre
- Student Services – counselling and mentoring support available

By car: The Farm is situated just off junction 25 of the M25 and the A10 Southbound
