Primary School Brings Fresh Magic to Capel Manor Gardens’ Fairy Forest for 2026
Children from across the school have been busy designing and creating enchanting fairy friends, furniture, and doors to add to last year’s addition of fairy homes. The children used natural materials such as willow, tree bark and wood provided by the College, highlighting their creativity through a variety of colourful and imaginative, fairy-themed creations.
These handmade pieces now form part of the Fairy Forest; a charming woodland trail nestled within Capel Manor Gardens. Visitors can wander through a landscape filled with seasonal planting, from vibrant spring bulbs to flowering shrubs, while discovering the hidden miniature world created by local children.
Following judging by representatives from Capel Manor College and Gardens, the school celebrated its pupils hard work in a special prize giving assembly. On Thursday 26 March, the children visited the Gardens to explore the forest, find their creations, and take part in a magical fairy house hunt. The visit offered a memorable outdoor learning experience, combining imagination, nature and play.

“It was wonderful seeing our community come together to create a beautiful forest for our local fairies. The children of Capel Manor Primary School had so much fun and loved to see their creations come to life in the wonderful grounds of Capel Manor Gardens.” said Alice Monford, Class Teacher from Capel Manor Primary School.
Julia Brown, Gardener at Capel Manor College and champion of the project, added: “I was totally blown away by the kids’ amazing and beautiful creations. The level of imagination and thought that went into making them was just outstanding. We’ve had a lot of children visiting over the Easter holidays and it has been great to see them enjoying finding the fairy doors and all the other magical things in the forest.”
This initiative forms part of a wider mission by Capel Manor College and Gardens to connect communities with nature, education, and wellbeing through hands-on experiences.
