Deputy Mayor visits Beaver Enclosure and Forty Hall Farm
On Friday 14 March, Capel Manor College welcomed a group including Deputy Mayor of London for Environment & Energy, Mete Coban MBE, Cllr Ergin Erbil, Leader of Enfield Council and Feryal Clark, MP for Enfield North, for an insightful visit to our cow grazing site and beaver enclosure at Forty Hall Farm and Estate.
Joined by our new Chair of Governors, Joanne Roxburgh and principal and CEO, Peter Brammall, the visit highlighted Capel Manor College’s vital work in wildlife and environmental conservation and land management. Attendees included key figures from Enfield Council’s Climate Action and Green Infrastructure teams, London Assembly Member Joanne McCartney and representatives from ReWild London, the Greater London Authority and Capel Manor College, and the group had the opportunity to see first-hand how these projects support biodiversity, habitat restoration and regenerative farming practices.
The group toured the grazing site and expanding beaver enclosure, learning about the positive ecological impact of beaver reintroduction and natural grazing practices, before visiting the farm’s livestock areas, including our lambing pens which are undergoing preparations for the new lambing season. The visit provided a valuable platform for discussions on urban rewilding, climate resilience and collaborative efforts in environmental conservation and reinforces Capel Manor College as a leader in environmental education and sustainability.
Keep an eye on our news page and social media channels for more exciting updates on this project, including the official opening of our expanded Beaver Enclosure and your opportunity to visit the site for yourself!
