We recognise that parents and carers play an important role in supporting students as they begin their college journey. For this reason, we will be holding dedicated Parent and Carer Information Sessions from 4pm to 5pm on each Offer Holder Day. Please let your parent or guardian know about our information sessions.
What to expect from a Parent and Carer Information Session:
- Learn more about student support services and college life
- Understand key dates, enrolment processes, and what to expect in September
- Meet members of the college team and ask any questions you may have
This is an informal interview for you to meet the tutor, they will ask you questions about yourself, about what you are studying or have studied in the past, any work experience (if applicable) and any career plans. Interviews help us ensure that you are on the best course for you and your future. In some cases, tutors may recommend an alternate course during your interview if they think you may be better suited.
Any visitors including parents or guardians will be asked to wait at our Reception area during your interview unless a special provision has been made for them.
If you have a reference from your school or employer, predicted or actual grades, please bring this with you. For some courses you may be required to demonstrate your ability in the course area you have applied for. We will notify you in advance if there are any requirements.
- Research the College: Familiarise yourself with the College's website and your chosen subject and course.
- Review your application: You can refresh your memory on the information you provided in your application. Be prepared to discuss them in more detail or provide examples during the interview.
- Practice common interview questions: You can anticipate and practice responses to common interview questions, such as why you're interested in the College, your academic and career goals, your strengths and weaknesses, and how you can contribute to the campus community.
- Reflect on your experiences and goals: Consider your personal and academic experiences, goals and values. You can think about how they align with the College's mission and offerings. Be prepared to discuss why you believe the College is a good fit for you.
- Prepare questions to ask the interviewer: Be sure to come up with thoughtful questions to ask the interviewer about the College, student life, your chosen course, or any specific areas that you would like to know more about. This shows your genuine interest in the College and allows you to gather more information.
- Be yourself and showcase your personality: While it's important to be prepared, remember to be your authentic self. Let your personality shine through, as colleges are interested in getting to know the real you.
We understand that summer schedules can be busy and unavoidable clashes happen. If you have an irreconcilable conflict (such as an existing exam, pre-booked holiday, or work commitment) and cannot make the June dates, please do not worry. Your place with us is secure.
While we strongly urge everyone to prioritise the June dates to get a head start, we will host a dedicated catch-up session featuring the exact same vital activities immediately following the enrolment period in September. If you cannot attend in June, please let us know via the booking link so we can flag your account for the post-enrolment session.
