Foundation Certificate in Floristry (Level 1)

Course overview

Receive an introduction into the world of floristry with this short course, delivered one day per week over 13 weeks.

This is your opportunity to learn entry-level practical skills required by employers to start in the industry. You will explore how to create basic floral, wedding, tied and funeral designs, learning how to identify fresh flowers for your pieces along the way.

This course includes one external theory-based exam, and you will create a portfolio full of evidence of your newly acquired skills. All fresh materials and sundries are chosen and provided by you to enhance your individual style.

Please note, this course is only available for those who are aged 19 or over. Please do not apply if you are younger than 19 years old.

  • How to prepare and care for cut flowers, foliage and plants
  • How to design, produce and maintain flowers and foliage
  • How to complete practical assessments to demonstrate the skills you have learnt
  • How to develop employability skills

Successful completion of this course will help build your confidence, and you could progress to a Level 2 course in floristry, event planning or event styling.

This course is part-funded by the ESFA (Education and Skills Funding Agency) or Greater London Authority (GLA) for those that are eligible.

If you are aged 16, 17 or 18 at the start of the course, your tuition, exams and materials fees will be paid for you in full as long as you meet some basic criteria for UK residence (more information can be found on our Fees and Funding page).

If you are aged 19 or over on the day your course starts, you may be entitled to help with tuition fees subject to criteria. If you receive employment benefits, have a low income, or are studying towards your first substantial qualification, you may be entitled to free tuition. For some of our courses, we offer a discount for current students. If this is the case, you will see the reduced fee when you select your chosen course campus and start date. To qualify for this discount, you must already be studying another course at Capel Manor College, and be adding this course to your existing programme.
