Capel Manor College to Showcase ‘Aspects of Nature’ Garden at BBC Gardeners’ World Spring Fair 2025
Capel Manor College is excited to announce that a group of its talented horticulture students will be showcasing a new garden design at the BBC Gardeners’ World Spring Fair 2025, held at Beaulieu, Hampshire from 2-4 May.
Students studying the Level 2 Professional Gardener Diploma have created Aspects of Nature – a thoughtfully designed garden that celebrates the beauty and creativity found in contrasting natural conditions.
Aspects of Nature presents two distinct environments, each inspired by the different ecosystems in which plants flourish.
The North Aspect explores shady, damp conditions. Here, planting highlights texture and form, celebrating the elegance of natural decay. A blackened timber wall set behind a white-barked tree creates a striking visual contrast, symbolising the balance between shadow and light.
The South Aspect showcases dry, sun-drenched conditions. With drought-tolerant plants and a bold sculptural centrepiece, this side of the garden demonstrates resilience and sustainable design, using repurposed materials to evoke a natural yet contemporary feel.
Together, these contrasting elements invite visitors on a sensory journey through nature’s varied and beautiful expressions.
The project has been developed entirely by students as part of their practical coursework, offering a unique opportunity to apply their skills in a live, professional setting. It highlights their expertise not only in horticulture, but also in teamwork, creativity, and project management.
“This is an incredible opportunity for our students to apply their learning in a real-world environment and showcase their skills on a national stage,” said Zephaniah Lindo, Team Leader for Horticulture and Landscape at Capel Manor College.
Following the Fair, elements of Aspects of Nature will be relocated across the College’s five campuses in London, where they will continue to inspire future learners.
“Being part of this project has been a huge boost for my confidence and given us all direct experience in professional horticulture. I’ve learned so much about garden design, plant choice, purchasing, construction and landscaping.” said Helen Bell, one of the students involved in the build.
Capel Manor College would like to thank its generous sponsors and supporters for helping bring this garden to life: Caradon Stone, Bradstone, Wood Green Timber, and Caley Bros. Mushrooms.
We look forward to welcoming visitors to experience Aspects of Nature at Beaulieu this next weekend.
