Apprentices attend weekly online teaching sessions. Optional monthly face-to-face sessions can be used for workshops, legislation and practical reinforcement. Learning is applied through seasonal projects aligned to workplace activity.
Formal tripartite reviews with the apprentice, employer and college take place every 10 weeks to check progress, off-the-job training, safeguarding and health and safety to set targets.
Employers provide a productive job role aligned to the standard, a workplace mentor, access to relevant tasks and projects (e.g CAD/GIS, surveys, planning support) and input during progress reviews.
Portfolio development is embedded throughout. A gateway meeting confirms readiness and the EPA is delivered with the selected EPA organisation. Mock assessments are used to prepare apprentices for the assessment format.
