Course overview
This free, online course for those aged 19 and over, delivers maths teaching and content in preparation for the GCSE Maths exam.
This is your opportunity to obtain a GCSE Foundation Maths qualification, or study again if you have an existing GCSE Maths qualification that is below a grade 4 or (D and under), and would like the chance to improve your grade, and refresh your skills.
At the application stage, you will be required to complete a short diagnostic test to determine your suitability for the course. You will proceed to an Introduction to Numeracy lesson to start your journey in maths. If the diagnostic test results are below the entry requirements, you are able to transfer to the Everyday Numeracy skills to enhance your numeracy skills to enable you to join the GCSE course. As well as preparing you for the formal GCSE exam, this online course will enable you to utilise maths skills used in everyday life. You will advance your range of mathematical skills and learn the techniques needed in order to solve problems in maths, covering the topics from, Number, Algebra, Geometry and Statistics. Please note, you must be able to travel to one of our campuses to sit your formal exams.
The exam consists of three papers each with a loading of 80 marks. One paper is non- calculator and two, each calculator papers. To do this course you will need to be fully committed to do the assignments and assessment set throughout the length of the course.

Please note, our morning classes run from 9.30am to 12.30 pm. January courses require attendance twice a week on a Tuesday and Thursday. For all of our courses, we require 85% and above attendance to be successful in achieving the GCSE Foundation Maths qualification.
This course is delivered as part of the London Multiply programme.

GCSE Mathematics (Edexcel)
You will be required to undertake an initial BKSB assessment in order to demonstrate that you are working at Level 1 or above.
GCSEs are taught throughout the UK and overseas, and are seen as being one of the most recognisable and robust standards of education in the world.
Most employers require GCSE Maths and use this qualification as a filter in their selection process. Gaining a qualification in this area, or improving your existing qualification, can help in your career progression. If you are thinking of furthering your education, achievement of GCSE Maths at grade 4 and above is a vital requirement for university entrance and progression to A level study.
This course is part-funded by the ESFA (Education and Skills Funding Agency) or Greater London Authority (GLA) for those that are eligible.
If you are aged 19 or over on the day your course starts, you may be entitled to help with tuition fees subject to criteria. If you receive employment benefits, have a low income, or are studying towards your first substantial qualification, you may be entitled to free tuition. To qualify for this discount, you must already be studying another course at Capel Manor College, and be adding this course to your existing programme.
