Part Time Fixed Term Contract,
4 days per week, April –Oct 2022
Forty Hall Farm, Enfield
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Seasonal Grower to join the team in the Market Garden at Forty Hall Farm – a nine-acre intensive growing site producing a wide range of seasonal organic fruit and veg for sale locally through Enfield Veg Co, our own local veg bag delivery scheme, and on-site farm shop.
The Market Garden produces approximately 20,000kg of fruit and vegetables per year and is part of a historic, diverse, Soil Association-certified mixed farm which incorporates extensive livestock production, a 12-acre vineyard, a community orchard and woodland over its 150 acres. The seasonal grower position is a fixed-term post for the duration of the busiest part of the growing season, and enables us to supply the veg bag scheme and farm shop with produce throughout the year.
The successful candidate be a highly motivated, enthusiastic grower, ideally with some experience of small scale commercial growing. The opportunity is an ideal step to gain more experience in organic vegetable production. They will work with the Growers and other farm staff to assist with the operation of the market garden, as well as occasionally helping with the running of Enfield Veg Co. The job incorporates all aspects of horticultural production at a variety of scales – from no-dig polytunnels to field-scale tractor-based production – along with occasional supervision and leadership of students and volunteers with diverse abilities and experience.
The ideal candidate would be expected to be willing and able to undertake occasional paid weekend work, which may include assisting at our monthly farmers’ markets and farm events.
