As the only specialist environmental, land-based further and higher education college in London, our College is unique. The College offers a range of full and part-time courses for school leavers and adults, and plays a vital role in the green agenda for the capital. Our campuses at Enfield, Crystal Palace Park, Gunnersbury Park, Mottingham and Regent’s Park include 30 acres of gardens, two zoos, a farm, a vineyard, a dog grooming parlour and a flower shop – all of which are open to the public. We host regular events throughout the year for families to enjoy, and some of our campuses are available for function and event hire.

Our diverse range of courses ensures that the next generation of land-based sector professionals are properly equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to help preserve and protect London’s wildlife, national parks and green spaces.

We have over 3,000 students studying a wide range of subjects including arboriculture, conservation, farming, floristry, garden design, horticulture, landscaping, veterinary studies, saddlery and zoology. We are proud that in 2018, the year in which the College celebrated its 50th anniversary, staff and students won Gold at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and Gold at the Ideal Home Show.

With our current Chair coming to the end of their second term, the College is planning for a successor to this key strategic role. With a new Principal/Chief Executive and Deputy Principal due to take up the post in the Spring, and with an opportunity to review the College’s strategic plan with the Senior Leadership Team and the Governing Body, there is a real opportunity for the new Chair to make a significant contribution to the values, vision and mission of the College at an exciting point of change.

Having experience in the further education sector is not considered essential, but recognition of the life-changing opportunities the education sector provides, along with significant interest and commitment to environmental sustainability, is. As a senior professional with a wealth of experience, you will be well placed to provide strategic leadership that inspires, challenges and empowers others to deliver the College’s vision, and your experience in governance will have placed you well for a position as Chair to the Corporation.
