Over the last 50 years, Capel Manor College has helped thousands of school leavers and adults achieve their dream of working with animals, plants and the environment.  As London’s environmental college, the College plays a vital role in the green agenda for the capital, equipping the next generation of land-based sector workers with the skills and knowledge needed to preserve and protect London’s wildlife, national parks and green spaces.  Capel Manor College is an exciting, innovative and stimulating work environment and we are interested in hearing from applicants who are committed to excellence and improving the lives of others through education, training and skills development.

Our Animal Management Department offers a wide range of courses including a Level 1 Introduction to Animal Care course, the Level 2 Animal Care Technical Diploma and the Level 3 Animal Management Advanced Diploma.  We also offer Access to Higher Education Diplomas in Veterinary Science and Animal Science and Welfare.  We offer a Keeper and Aquarist apprenticeship and also run Higher Education courses in Animal Management and Zoology and Animal Management and Biodiversity.  We are now looking for casual Lecturers to provide high quality teaching on the College’s Animal Management courses and ensure the effective learning of students being taught.  This will involve preparing and delivering stimulating lessons, setting goals that stretch and challenge all students, monitoring and assessing student progress, giving feedback and consistently demonstrating the positive attitudes, values and behaviours which are expected of students.  We can offer a variety of working patterns starting at a few hours a week for those who would like to do some teaching to complement existing commitments up to five days a week, for those looking for full-time hours.

Applicants should possess and Degree, HND or other relevant qualification in an animal related discipline, science or other associated subject.  We welcome applications from experienced Lecturers and from those with relevant industry experience who are interested in passing on their skills to others.  If you are an enthusiastic individual with the ability to inspire, motivate and challenge students and if you are able to impart knowledge and develop understanding that promotes a love of learning and develops intellectual curiosity, we want to hear from you.

What’s in it for you?

We offer the opportunity to help develop your skills and knowledge in a friendly team environment, plus a range of benefits including generous annual leave, a defined benefit pension scheme (Teacher’s Pension Scheme for Lecturing roles and Local Government Pension Scheme for Support roles), employee assistance programme and full access to Capel Gardens.
