Naomi's story
I gained an understanding of how to produce pieces entirely by hand, from design and pattern-cutting to the whole making process. I can now apply these skills to other items such as shoes, bags, and fashion accessories.Naomi studied saddlery and bridle making before becoming one of the first students to study our shoemaking course.
Career prospects

Shoemaker
A shoemaker makes, designs and repairs footwear. They take measurements, gather materials, calculate costs and cut materials into shape to meet bespoke design requirements.

Footwear Designer
This is an ideal job if you are someone who enjoys visualising and designing new products. A footwear designer keeps up-to-date with emerging trends and often works to a design brief in line with branding and production requirements.

Costume Designer
Explore your passion for fashion and utilise your hand craft skills by creating bespoke costumes for actors and actresses in TV, theatre or film.
