Fast-track your future in horticulture and green careers

Skills Bootcamps are free, flexible training programmes designed to help adults gain the skills employers are looking for right now.

Funded by the Greater London Authority, they offer a fast route into work, self-employment or further training, all within just five to 16 weeks. 

    

What we offer

At Capel Manor College, London’s environmental college, we offer two exciting Skills Bootcamps to help you grow your career in the green industries:

Grounds Maintenance – designed for those looking to secure employment with leading landscaping and horticulture companies across London. 

Professional Gardener – ideal if you want to build your own client base and work independently as a self-employed gardener. 

Each programme combines hands-on, practical training with industry knowledge, expert teaching and real-world experience. You will learn in our tailor-made facilities and grounds across London, developing the skills and confidence needed to start or advance your career. 

Learners on the Skills Bootcamp - Grounds Maintenance programme are guaranteed an interview with one of our employer partners upon completion, opening the door to real job opportunities.

Those joining the Skills Bootcamp - Professional Gardener programme will receive one-to-one support and guidance to help set up and grow their own business. 

Who is this for?

Skills Bootcamps are open to adults aged 19 or over who live in London and want to start or progress in a green career.

You do not need previous experience, just enthusiasm, reliability and a willingness to learn. 

By the end of your programme, you will gain an industry-recognised Level 2 qualification, have developed valuable skills, and gained direct access to employers or self-employment opportunities.

Grounds Maintenance

This five-week programme combines practical, hands-on learning with employability support and direct links to employers across London. You will train in our professional gardens and estates, developing real-world skills and confidence. On successful completion, candidates will be matched with employers and offered a job interview.

Professional Gardener

This is a full-time, five-week training programme designed for adults who want to start or grow their own gardening business. This is a fast-paced, immersive programme that mirrors the realities of working in the industry. You will train in our beautiful gardens and estates, developing plant knowledge, maintenance techniques and design understanding.
