With a horticulture supervisor apprentice your business can improve productivity, protect quality, and retain your best people with specialist funded training delivered by London’s land-based college.

Funding and costs

For most employers, training is funded through the apprenticeship system, and our team takes care of the process from start to finish. We’ll support you in accessing the available funding, align the programme to your specific roles, and provide regular reviews and guidance to ensure apprentices are fully prepared for assessment.

As part of the funded programme, apprentices will cover modules such as:

  • Strategic Planning and Project Design
  • Operations and Site Management
  • Team Leadership and Supervision
  • Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance
  • Maintenance, Quality Control and Asset Care
  • Level 3 First Aid
  • Communication, Reporting and Client Relations
  • Level 2 Principles of safe handling and application of pesticides
  • Level 2 Award In The Safe Application of Pesticides Using Pedestrian Hand Held Equipment OR Level 2 Certificate of Competence in the Safe Use of Abrasive Wheel Machines

What employers gain:

Employers often report tangible gains in productivity and quality within the first three months of training.
  • Boost productivity through structured planning and project management
  • Increase quality standards across your sites and contracts
  • Retain and grow talent by developing existing staff or new recruits
  • Reduce recruitment costs by training people to fit your business
  • Embed sustainability with practices tailored to the modern green sector

How it works

Time to impact, many employers see productivity and quality gains within the first quarter. Your apprentice will gain skills through a blend of:

  • Scoping and planning – aligning the apprenticeship to your business needs
  • On-the-job training – applied learning within your workplace
  • Off-the-job teaching – expert training delivered by Capel Manor’s specialist tutors
  • Workplace projects – apprentices deliver improvements on live sites
  • Progress reviews – regular updates to ensure impact and readiness for final assessment

Who is this apprenticeship for?

  • Experienced horticultural workers ready to step into a supervisory role
  • Employers looking to upskill their team leaders and site supervisors
  • Organisations wanting to build sustainable, high-quality green space management
