Introduction to Working with Hand-Stitched Leather

Course overview

During this short course you will be introduced to the skills of preparing and hand-stitching leather. At the end of the course, you will have produced a selection of simple hand-stitched leather items.

You will need to bring a notebook and pen, and are required to wear sturdy shoes and clothes suitable for a workshop environment. Please note that materials are included with the course fee.

You will learn

  • The basic skills of measuring, cutting, edging and staining leather
  • The art of skiving, hand-stitching and hole-punching leather at a basic level
Entry requirements

You do not need to have any prior leatherwork experience.

Successful completion of this course will enable you to undertake another one of our leatherwork or shoemaking short, full or part-time courses.
