The Prince’s Trust – Award in Personal Development and Employability Skills (Level 1)

Course overview

This course has been developed by The Prince’s Trust and will provide you with a variety of personal skills, qualities and attitudes required by employers across a range of sectors.

The Prince’s Trust aims to empower young people to take control of their lives, overcome challenges, and move forward with confidence. This course is a valuable resource for personal and professional development, and the knowledge and skills you acquire can have a positive impact on your future.

This is an introductory course which will take place over 7 weeks. It is designed to facilitate your progression onto the Prince’s Trust – Certificate in Personal Development and Employability Skills (Level 1) which spans 20 weeks.

The aim of this course is to help you to progress into further education and/or employment. During your studies, you will develop your own personal growth and engagement in, and through, learning. You will get the opportunity to engage in learning that is relevant to you and learn skills that are valuable for both your personal and working life.

  • How to build your self-esteem and confidence
  • How to develop your resilience
  • How to set and achieve personal goals and overcome obstacles
  • Essential communication and employability skills
  • English and maths skills

No previous experience or qualifications are required.

If you are aged 16, 17 or 18 at the start of this course, your tuition, exams and materials fees will be paid for you in full as long as you meet some basic criteria for UK residence. Find out more on our Fees and Funding page. If you are eligible, you can also apply for support with travel and other costs through our bursary process. Further information will be provided when you enrol.

If you are aged 19 or over on the day your course starts, you may be entitled to help with tuition fees for some courses. If you are in receipt of employment benefits, have a low income, or are studying towards your first substantial qualification, you may be entitled to free tuition. Upon successful completion of this course, you can progress to one of our full-time courses, or onto employment.
