Introduction to the History of Capel Manor Gardens and Trees

Course overview

This insightful, one-day course is a fascinating way to find out more about Capel Manor Gardens and its many trees. You can take an educational tour around our 30-acre grounds with our Head of Agriculture, Arboriculture and Environmental Conversation.

You will learn about the rich history of the estate and how to identify its many ancient tree species that form the College’s arboretum. You will gain an understanding of the importance of arboriculture, and what is required to care for and protect trees in London’s urban environment. There will be a workbook exercise for you to complete towards the end of the day, along with a goody bag to take home.

  • What to look out for on a woodland walk
  • How pests and diseases can affect trees

Although there is no formal qualification associated with this course, all participants will receive a Capel Manor College Certificate of Attendance upon completion of the course.

There are no formal entry requirements however, a keen interest in arboriculture is essential.

Upon completion of this course, you can go on to study one of our arboriculture, horticulture and professional landscaping, or garden design and landscaping courses.
