Arboriculture and forestry at London’s environmental college

We offer the perfect location for your studies, with over 200 acres of land spread across the capital as well as access to many local woodland sites.

Lessons are practical and include felling, orienteering, and operating machinery, and equipment. Plus, you will help preserve natural heritage at prestigious landmarks, including Sites of Specific Scientific Interest, Hatfield House, and London parks.

Ivor's story

I have always been good at working with my hands, so I knew I wanted to do something practical like learn a skill or trade. I have gained confidence in myself to trust the skills I have learned and put them into practice. Ivor studied arboriculture and forestry during his time at the College.

Career prospects

Tree Surgeon

A tree surgeon is responsible for the care and general treatment of trees to keep them healthy. They also plant new trees or take trees down if they are unsafe.

Forester

Foresters manage designated forests or woodland areas and oversee activities such as conservation and recreation.

Tree Surveyor

The role of a tree surveyor is an important one, as they undertake surveys on trees to help property managers or homeowners make informed decisions.
