Applying for a full-time course

1. Request an application form
Submit your details online at www.capel.ac.uk for your chosen course or contact Admissions for an application form on 08456 122 122. You can also collect one in person from one of our five centres or download one here. Note: all completed applications must be sent to the Admissions office at the Enfield centre.

2. Complete the application form
Once you have chosen the course you hope to do, fill out the application form and return it to the Admissions office at the Enfield centre as soon as possible. Our courses are very popular and we allocate places on a first come, first served basis. To avoid disappointment we advise you to send in your application form early. (Applications received after 15 August 2012 are considered late applications and will be handled differently.)

Students aged 19 plus need to include a deposit of £40 for all courses which secures a place subject to meeting entry
requirements and availability. This is a non-refundable deposit unless the course does not run or there are changes
to timing/location that is not convenient.

3. Return the reference form
Complete the reference form with your personal details and then give this to your referee to complete and return to the College. Reference forms are required for fulltime or intensive programmes.

4. Acknowledgement letter
You will receive a letter or email from us acknowledging receipt of your application form.

5. Attend an Open Day
The best way to find out about the College is to visit. Our open days are a chance for you to talk to tutors about our courses, meet current students and tour our college centres.

6. Your interview
You will be sent a letter or an email inviting you for interview. Interviews are scheduled in centres where full-time courses are based, from February 2012 onwards. If you do not meet the entry requirements you will be offered guidance for possible alternatives.

7. Conditional or unconditional offer
If you are successful at your interview you will be offered a conditional or unconditional place, dependant on criteria such as a satisfactory reference being received and achieving predicted grades.

8. Second interview or learning support assessment
You may be invited for a second interview or assessment by Student Services to help determine which course is most
suitable for you and/or what support you might be eligible for.

9. Enrolment
You will receive a letter or an email telling you when to enrol. It is vital that you attend enrolment in person as you are not guaranteed a place until you have: paid your fees, signed your Learning Agreement and obtained your student ID card. Students who have not fully enrolled will not be allowed in class until officially enrolled.

Please note:

All applicants for full-time, intensive courses and Apprenticeships, and for certain part-time courses are interviewed in order to assess their suitability for the course. Basic Skills screening tests for literacy and numeracy are conducted at interview sessions. If we do not think that the course you have chosen meets your needs then we will discuss other options with you.

We aim to respond to applications within four weeks. Please ensure you have completed your application form fully as incomplete applications may be returned and delayed applications could result in not getting a place on your chosen course.

The allocation of a place does not mean you are enrolled. The College holds enrolment sessions which you must attend in order to enrol on your chosen course.
