Provision The Heaven Academy
(HORTICULTURE ENVIRONMENT ANIMAL CARE VOCATIONAL ENHANCEMENT)
This initiative was launched in 2002 to provide an opportunity for 14-16 year olds to enhance their GCSE studies, by gaining vocational qualifications and experience in horticulture, animal care and environmental studies. We have a growing number of partner schools across London in the project, whose pupils benefit from the exceptional practical facilities and specialist staff at our different centres. Learners usually follow half- or full-day programmes over two years leading to the award of a City & Guilds/NPTC 0361-01 Level 1 Certificate/Diploma in Land-based Studies with endorsed pathways in horticulture, countryside or animal care.
Provision School Links Programmes
The School of Learning Support also offers individualised programmes for schools. These are aimed at pupils aged 14 and above who may have identified learning difficulties and disabilities or who have disengaged with education. The courses can be tailored to suit the needs of learners from mainstream and from Special Needs schools
The 30-week long programmes lead to the accreditation of an award at Entry Level 3. Shorter programmes can also be designed on request. School links programmes aiming for Level 1 qualifications are also available for groups of students as a complement to GCSE study.
